So excited it's pathetic!

I am so very very excited that I managed to find a way to make a cool blog header! Not that anyone reads my blog and will see it...but that is totally NOT THE POINT! I love it and was happy to 1) have made the awesome little owl & tree applique MYSELF... 2) have showcased my most favorite pic of my hubby and I... 3) staged the awesome sewing notion picture and editing myself using Picnik...and 4) made a collage on above said website and managed to place it on my blog so that it actually looks cool! Yippee Skippee for me!
Have been so busy checking projects off my list that I haven't even had time to upload them to the blog! Maybe tonight after the kiddos are asleep. I have to keep track of all my hits and misses and take notes for improvement somewhere, and where better to do that than here! Trust me, if I try to put them in a spiffy little notebook it will get lost in the perpetual tornado that circles my house (AKA my kiddos)...or even worse than lost, be covered in indecipherable crayon renderings!!!

Oh the joys of figuring stuff out from scratch...

this is the one I goofed...was so sad, my netbook wouldn't even come close to fitting!
OMG! It fits!!!!!!!
Lined with minky for your protection, lol
Tried to make a netbook case out of this corduroy fabric that I absolutely adored...and GOOFED! Arghhh, stayed up past midnight to find it was too narrow. What a hassle to be a beginner at sewing but having such big dreams and ambitions. I was so ticked that I ended up staying up past 230 in the morning to finally get it right...not the material I had orginally intended but it looks good and is functionable (miracle, I know)  :)
this is the finshed case, after I readjusted what I thought would be perfect measurements the 1st time!

Not to sound like a win-o...

Sooooo...aside from enough coffee to keep both caribou & starbucks in business singlehandedly, my hubby and I also enjoy wine...lots of it. I'm not saying we drink to excess just that we like to pop a bottle open every so often (not our fault that happens to be QUITE OFTEN, lol)

Anywho...when we first started dating in 2004 and I discovered our mutual love of fermented grapes, I made an almost unconscious decision to save the wine cork from our 1st bottle of wine together. Well come to find out that 1st bottle of wine was far from our last to be had together and I (not so unconsciously) kept the cork from every bottle we shared together. Needless to say after 6 years (even with a few lost along the way) I had quite a collection of wine corks  :)

A few years ago I found a clearanced very large shadow box at hobby lobby with broken glass and of course I bought it not having a clue what to do with it...then it hit me and *BAM* new "cork" board (literally) for my kitchen filled with a myriad of memories of some of our most cherished, QUIET times as a couple...as wine is normally uncorked after kiddos are in bed, lol
gotta love the one in the lower middle...and yes! that was from a real bottle of wine, lol

my limited workspace...a corner of my bedroom

I swear this $7 see through shoe organizer has been a life saver for tiny odds & ends
I do everything I can to keep organized...soap making supplies, knitting, crocheting, paper crafts, kids crafts, sewing supplies, fabrics, findings, threads, buttons, pins, iron ons...the list is endless and so was the mess. I have devoted a corner of my tiny military housing bedroom to a mini crafter's paradise. I am always in search of practical, functional, and affordable solutions to my never ending barage of crafting supplies. Seems before I can finish one project I am buying materials for a 2nd, 3rd, 4th and so on. On top of that I try to never pass up a good clearance deal from any of my favorite crafty stores...hey, you never know when those super cute odds and ends will be just the thing the project you were working on needs, lol
my little slice  of crafter heaven :)

some previous attempts at CRAFTINESS :)

coin purse i made for my 8 year old daughter...she recieved a matching key fob too of course (what 8 yr old has keys???)

Off & Running!

Well, I have been wanting to do this for so long and now I can say that I have at least put my tires on the road. And to celebrate this accomplishment (lol) I purchased a new and improved sewing machine over my lunch break (I'll take any excuse I can feasibly use). I'm itching to get home and give it a whirl but know with  the kiddos that will be an impossibility until they are tucked into bed. Probably won't sleep too much tonight and that's a shame since I have to get up and go to work again in the morning.
my new toy :) Brother 50-Stitch Limited Edition Project Runway Sewing Machine
Being a working mom with dreams of crafting all kinds of fanTABulous items can be disappointing with time in such limited supply, but I am getting projects done when and if I can, even if it takes me triple the time! Maybe if hubby can really come in this weekend for a visit, I can steal away a few hours (mommy kid free vacation) and really get cracking on some of these projects floating around in my noggin!
